Video by S. Kaprov Greets Visitors to UIOWA Arena post image

NEW YORK CITY, NY – January 19, 2012 / – A work of video art that merges live film footage of athletes with vibrant, animated images will greet visitors to the newly renovated Carver-Hawkeye Arena, home of the University of Iowa Hawkeyes. The video is the work of Susan Kaprov a New York City artist who is also represented in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, among others.

“Going the Distance” is a 10-minute video that will run continuously on a bank of video monitors more than 13 feet wide and 7 feet tall in the entrance. The project was commissioned for the Carver-Hawkeye Arena as part of Iowa’s Art in State Buildings Program.

Susan Kaprov lives and works in Brooklyn, N.Y. She has completed major public art projects for the Harvard University Medical School, New York Law School, MetroTech Center, NASA, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, among others. Her artwork is represented in the permanent collections of museums worldwide, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum Boijmans-van Beuningen in Rotterdam, the Yale University Art Gallery, the Museum of Modern Art, NY, and the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
